The One India Association (OIA) affiliated to the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) under the aegis of the Indian Embassy recently held its 4th annual function at the Asoka Hall of the ICC on 30th November 2018. Senior Indian journalist Vinod Dua has called for forging better bonding between peoples of different faiths, religions and languages.
Padma Shri Vinod Dua was speaking as the chief guest at the 4th annual day celebrations of One India Association (OIA). Hassan A Chougule and MS Bukhari were the guests of honour at the event.
Dr M Vishwanathan, president of OIA, welcomed the audience, while Dilip Kutty, general secretary, presented the annual report outlining the various activities and achievements of the association during the past year.
Vinod Dua appreciated OIA’s efforts in various fields. He presented trophies to the winners of various categories of competitions organised by OIA as part of its annual meet celebrations.
The cultural activities as part of the event included dance performances, songs, instrumental music, a skit by kids and recital of a comedy poem.
Dr Vishwanathan, along with Shaji Francis, convenor of OIA Kerala Chapter, presented mementos to the guests of honour.
A highlight of the program was the presentation of awards to outstanding Indians in various fields, including Obaid Tahir (media), Mohammad Hamza (sports) and Jaffar Khan M (social service).
Ziauddin Ahmad, vice-president of the association, proposed the vote of thanks. More than 650 people, including children, attended the event. (TNN)
