ONE India Association, affiliated to the Indian Cultural Centre under the aegis of the Indian Embassy, Qatar, organised a badminton tournament at GEMS American Academy at Al Wakra on Thursday. Sixteen players from different parts of India participated in the tournament.
The final match was played between Asad Ali of UP and Jeevan Tomson of Kerala. In the closely contested match of three sets, Asad managed to win the title with the score of 15-9 and 19-18.
Hesham Farouk Sayed, managing director of ACC (Approval Contracting Co) who was the chief guest at the event, gave away the trophies and certificates to the winner and the runner up. Earlier, Ziauddin Ahmad, vice president of the association, applauded the players for their performances and welcomed the chief guest. A token of appreciation was also handed over to the chief guest by Mohd Ajmal and Liju K Paulson, office bearers of the association.
